Memory Care Programs
Music & Memory
The Peaks at Old Laramie Trail is a certified Music & Memory community! As a Certified Music & Memory Community, The Peaks at Old Laramie Trail is part of a national research initiative designed to focus on learning how residents with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia can benefit from listening to personalized music.
Music & Memory is a program which enables residents struggling with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and other cognitive challenges to reconnect with the world through music-triggered memories. Personalized music playlists are created with input from the resident and their family members. These playlists are loaded onto iPods provided by The Peaks at Old Laramie Trail so residents can connect with the music they love, with the goal of improving their overall health and well-being.
The Music & Memory program was recently featured in the documentary “Alive Inside.” Filmmaker, Michael Rossato-Bennett, created video which showcases the efforts of Dan Cohen, founder of Music & Memory. After witnessing the effect music had on people with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, Cohen spent three years filming countless stories of the power of music & memory which later became the full-blown documentary film “Alive Inside.”

Vibrant Life Signature Programs in Generations
From Our Generation to Yours
From Our Generation to Yours is an intergenerational program that identifies organizations or groups that would be interested in on-going opportunities to visit our community. Prior to the volunteers being introduced to the community, we provide an orientation that includes an age-appropriate introduction to dementia. Partnerships have been established with schools, scout troops and community youth groups.
Never Stop Exploring
Never Stop Exploring provides outings for our residents. This can include museums, art galleries, sports arenas, the zoo, historic sites, parks, restaurants, parades, farmers market and local farms. Our residents get to explore and enjoy what our community has to offer!
Tune-in To Me
Music is always welcomed in our Generations community. We meet with the resident and family care partners to complete the My Jukebox form. Songs that can be connected to a significant event or life experience during their teenage and young adult years are downloaded to create an individualized playlist on an iPod. The iPods are available for our residents to enjoy.
Culinary Creations provides the opportunity to explore family recipes, celebrate food holidays and sample foods from around the world. Residents cook and enjoy favorite foods. The wonderful aroma of food brings back memories of time spent cooking with family.
It’s All Right
It’s All Right is designed to highlight the skills that are retained on the right side of the brain: imagination, creativity, expression, color, fun. Within this program, we offer opportunities to express our creativity through adventure and imagination. There is no wrong, It’s All Right!
